All of the various forest defence campaigns (listed below) which emerged to fight the government's plans late last year into early 2011 merged to form a new campaign network - The Forest Campaigns' Network - to demand a seat on the “independent” (but Government-appointed) Forestry Panel which reviewed the future of the public forest estate. The Network will continue to exist as required in reaction to any future emergency developments.

Save Our Forests (38 Degrees):

As of 16/02/11, 532,111 persons had signed the 38 Degrees petition against the Sell off of England’s Public Forests. It was this petition which was referred to in the media as the petition count of people opposed to public sell-off.
